Acer Predator X34 – A Review From Blind Boy Paxton

The Acer Predator X34 is a curved gaming monitor which provides absolutely stunning graphics and a strong G-Sync performance – if you have the budget to spare. It is on every gamer’s wish list as the monitor to have. It is sleek, classy and is an absolute stunner when it comes to great graphical output.

First of all, it is huge at 34”, which gives you more screen real estate for excellent gaming experience. Next it has a native resolution of 3440 x 1440px which is excellent for gaming. And it is a curved monitor!

Taken from Armchair Empire, These features blend seamlessly well with each other, and this makes a sleek eye-catching design which is pleasant on the eyes, whether it be turned on or not. The best part is, the pleasure you derive when actually playing a game and be immersed in another world with the best realism a good monitor could afford you.

The Predator definitely earns its name with its fierce design, with its predator logo looking perfectly placed in the middle of the bottom bezel. At the back of the screen is a scale-like triangular pattern which resembles the scales of an alien predator from the sci-fi movies of the 90’s. The slim, ergonomic aluminium legs look like the predator is ready to pounce in its next meal.

Another plus factor for this monitor is the LED lights at the bottom, which can be controlled as to color, depending on the state it is in. They can also be controlled to make cool patterns like ripples or have that running light effect during operation. How’s that for extra oomph!

To take advantage of what the display has to offer, you can tilt the monitor 5 degrees forward and 15 degrees backward to adjust to your preference. You could also raise or lower it 5 inches either way to perfectly adjust to your eye level.

The device has a DisplayPort and an HDMI port on the rear bottom area, as well as 4 USB 3.0 ports, and a headphone jack, which should be more than enough for your gaming pleasure. The placement of these ports are rather inconvenient as you have to reach around the back to use them. The designers did not want to mess up the overall look of the monitor from the front, but this should not have been a major drawback.

  • Impressive design
  • Gorgeous picture quality
  • Strong G-Sync performance
  • Low latency
  • Solid built-in speakers

  • Pricey
  • Navigating menus can be a pain

During gameplay, you are drawn in by the scenarios being played out, all the more because of the curved design, which tends to draw your attention even better than if you were using a flat screen. Gameplay is smooth and responsive, with all the great features built into it, the high refresh rate of 100Hz and the equally excellent response rate of 4milliseconds.

Using Nvidia’s G-Sync technology, this monitor eliminates tears and stutters and practically eliminates lag as well.

The tag price of $1300 is a major obstacle for most gamers, because that would definitely set you back quite a few extra bucks, but the return is worth every penny spent. Since you can also use it for work or watching movies and other non-gaming stuff, I guess it’s well worth the investment.
